Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems expands Kentucky facility

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems has announced a $17 million expansion of its facility in Simpson County, Ky. The expansion will create 76 full-time jobs. With the additional space, Sumitomo will be able to increase product lines for electric wiring harness components for automobiles. The company will also add new injection molding machines and automated assembly equipment to produce electrical connectors. Mississippi Polymers announces temporary layoffs

Mississippi Polymers Inc., a family-owned plastic film manufacturer in Corinth, Miss., has announced a temporary layoff of 102 employees. The layoffs went into effect on June 24 due to an unexpected drop in orders. Mississippi Polymers is No. 69 in Plastics News‘ ranking North American film and sheet manufacturers with an estimated $100 million in sales.
