Braskem Doubles 3D-Printing Market Share with taulman3D Acquisition

Materials supplier Braskem announced today the acquisition of taulman3D, a supplier of nylon, recycled PETG, and PET 3D-printing filaments to aerospace, automotive, healthcare, industrial, and other professionals. The acquisition complements an existing portfolio of next-generation filaments, pellets, and powders designed specifically for 3D-printing applications, said Braskem.

Founded in 2012, taulman3D offers a wide portfolio of filaments and polymers designed to address specific customer applications. From its headquarters in Linton, IN, taulman3D products are supplied globally through a distribution network.

With its global headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil, Braskem says it is the largest polyolefins producer in the Americas and a market leader and pioneer producer of biopolymers on an industrial scale. Braskem America is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Philadelphia-based Braskem S.A., which operates production plants in Texas, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia; an Innovation and Technology Center in Pittsburgh; and biotech and advanced materials operations in Boston.

“Braskem’s acquisition of taulman3D brings a high-quality 3D-filament producer with a globally diversified client list and a highly complementary product portfolio,” commented Jason Vagnozzi, Global Commercial Director of Additive Manufacturing, Braskem. “With projections for the 3D-printing industry expected to grow from $15 billion today to $78 billion by 2030 — growing at an estimated 20% CAGR — we see enhanced opportunities to serve this rapidly growing demand. Today’s acquisition doubles Braskem’s market share in the additive manufacturing market and further accelerates our growth strategy,” said Vagnozzi.

Zach Lichaa, taulman3D President added: “We’re extremely proud to have built one of the leading 3D-printing businesses in the world over the last decade, with private and public sector clients in dozens of countries. Braskem’s significant research and development resources and their world-class production teams will enable us to serve our clients with even greater focus and product innovation as additive manufacturing becomes increasingly engrained in global supply chains.”

Taulman3D’s filament and polymer portfolio includes:

  • carbon-fiber-alloy nylon filament
  • glass-fiber-alloy nylon filament
  • alloy 910 filament
  • alloy 910 high-heat filament
  • PCTPE filament
  • TECH-G filament
  • T-Glase filament
  • bridge nylon, nylon 230, nylon 645, and nylon 680 (FDA-listed material)
  • PA cast plate nylon filament
  • SAC1060 support material for nylon
  • medical-grade guideline filament
  • Enviro 100% recycled PETG filament

Braskem offers 3D-printing filaments and technologies that include fused filament fabrication, selective laser sintering, and high-speed pellet extrusion. Braskem boasts decades of expertise in materials science and product development and operates state-of-the-art 3D-printing labs. Its product development professionals collaborate across startups, universities, equipment manufacturers, converters, compounders, and brand owners on leading-edge 3D printing solutions, said the company.
