Digital Health Dominated CES 2022
Digital health technologies definitely energized this year’s CES. “The ideas and technologies you see around us this week are going to be life changing,” said CES Executive Vice President Karen Chupka (pictured above) as she kicked off the show during the CTA State of the Industry keynote. For instance, “wearable makers like Withings and Circular are helping to bring medical support and guidance closer to home, changing the face of modern medicine.” (Body Scan from Withings was among the CES 2022 Innovation Award honorees.) Chupka also pointed to space tech from Sierra Space, which is “supporting scientific research in areas like cancer treatment, asthma, and Alzheimer’s disease that could enhance our life here on Earth” as well as to the inaugural winners of the Women’s Global Health Tech Awards.
But perhaps the best example that health tech stole the show was the keynote from Abbott’s President and CEO Robert Ford, which marked the first time a healthcare company delivered the keynote CES. Ford welcomed patients and doctors to the stage to share the impact of today’s health technology and later unveiled Abbott’s new Lingo biometric sensors.
“What greater purpose is there for technology than advancing human well-being and health?” said CTA President and CEO Gary Shapiro, as he introduced Ford’s keynote.
