Medical tubing supplier Raumedic has expanded its portfolio of biopharmaceutical fluid-processing products and launched a new biocompatible tubing brand. The company also announced that it is adding an ISO Class 7 cleanroom to its global headquarters in Helmbrechts, Germany. 

Raumedic has been an exclusive supplier to a key solutions provider in the biopharmaceutical and life sciences sector for more than a decade. It is now leveraging its more than 70 years of polymer processing expertise to offer its product range directly to the broader market, the company said in its announcement.

Nina Kaiser, head of pharma at Raumedic, explained that the expertise and capabilities within the company informed the decision to service the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries directly. “When it comes to polymer tubing, Raumedic is one of only a handful of global companies sophisticated enough to fulfill the strenuous regulatory demands for extruded biopharma tubing. But our capabilities actually go beyond this,” added Kaiser.

In addition to extrusion, Raumedic offers molding and assembly services across five global production sites, including at its North American headquarters in Mills River, NC, established in 2016. “Raumedic has set out to become a true one-stop-shop for polymeric product solutions for pharma and biopharma fluid-processing products,” stressed Kaiser.

The product portfolio encompasses a broad selection of biocompatible fluid-processing tubing in various materials, including silicone, thermoplastic elastomers, FEP, and PVC, as well as polycarbonate-based tubing connectors.  

As part of its outreach to the pharma and biopharma industries, Raumedic has also unveiled the registered brand names for three of its most popular biocompatible tubing products:

• Silmotion silicone tubing with a patented low-tack surface
• Braidmotion braided silicone tubing with a medical-grade PET mesh material
• Thermmotion TPE tubing that is free of Irgafos 168 and is optimized for cell growth
