Sanner Expands Production Capacity in China by 80%

A global manufacturer of healthcare packaging and medical device components, the Sanner Group is significantly expanding production capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.

The new manufacturing facility, dubbed Kunshan II, will operate alongside Sanner’s existing plant in Kunshan, China, increasing flexibility and boosting production capacity by 80%. In particular, the plant will create sufficient capacity to meet regional demand for Sanner’s innovative pharmaceutical and medical technology products. The investment reflects its commitment to customers in Asia and cements its position as a leading contract development and manufacturing organization, said Sanner in the announcement.

“Sanner China is a trusted market leader in Asia-Pacific with designated high-tech status,” stressed Ralf Tiemann, Sanner CEO Asia-Pacific, adding that the “new facility marks an important milestone in the successful 23-year history of Sanner China.” High-tech status is bestowed upon companies that meet demanding requirements with respect to innovation (patent activity), R&D spend, and focus on advanced technology in areas of national importance, explained Sanner.

Sanner claims to be the region’s main supplier of desiccant-based test strip packaging and other primary packaging solutions, which will be produced in the new 18,000-square-meter (194,000-square-foot) facility. The plant includes more than 4,000 square meters (43,000 square feet) of production space classified as a Class D clean area suited for the production of drug-delivery devices and pharmaceutical and medical packaging products. Also equipped with energy-efficient injection molding machines, the plant has ample space to accommodate future expansion, said Sanner.

Sanner anticipates further growth in Asia Pacific as well as in Germany, where it is headquartered. A new production facility and headquarters is scheduled to be completed in Bensheim, Germany, by September 2024, more than doubling current production capacity in Germany. The company also maintains manufacturing plants in France and Hungary.
