Tektite Industries acquires C&M Mold and Tool to add in-house mold tooling capabilities

Trenton, N.J. lighting manufacturer Tektite Industries Inc. has acquired the assets of Pennsylvania-based C&M Mold and Tool Co. effective Sept. 1.

The “strategic move for both companies,” Scott Mele, president and owner of Tektite told Plastics News in an email, was “up and fully running” by Nov. 15.

C&M’s equipment was consolidated and moved into Tektite’s Trenton, N.J., facility. All of C&M’s employees now work for Tektite and no jobs were lost as a result of the acquisition, a Dec. 1 news release said.

Tektite used to “predominately” outsource building tooling for injection molds and dies to C&M, the release said. The acquisition gives Tektite the in-house capability.

“By expanding our in-house tooling capabilities, we are poised to serve customers faster, better and more cost-effectively in support of our company mission,” Mele said in the release. “We are also proud to announce that this acquisition allows us to further our commitment to keeping jobs in America in compliance with the Buy American Act.”

Tektite manufactures LED flashlights, LED replacement bulbs, dive lights, strobes, marker lights, tactical lights, infrared strobes, knives, and accessories used by scuba divers, mountaineers, police officers and the military. The company has six injection presses, according to Plastics News data.
